Personal Growth Development & Homework Tutorial Class is a pilot project of the T.A.N.G. Youth Program. It aims to assist youth who have challenges in doing their school work. Students will bring in their school assignment and do it together with other students. Priorities are given to new immigrant youth who have been in Canada less than 3 years and/or youth whose families have financial challenges.

- u* m+ |4 r+ {" E. Z* q& C H8 VDuring the class, educational sessions on interpersonal skills, personal development as well as Basic English and/or French will be taught. 8 s$ `) x" ^: k1 c9 r9 V

Each session begins with instruction on fundamental concept of English and/or French then followed by interactive/educational games. In the second half of the class, students will work on their school assignments.

Program Schedule:

Fall and Spring Sessions: run on alternate Saturday mornings from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon.$ P9 x* y7 q, a* e' Z7 J
 Fall session starts in mid October to February

Who can participate?

Asian youth aged 11 to 15, who are new immigrants and/or whose families are facing financial challenges living in Edmonton or surrounding area.3 }7 N" t. H0 T% W9 ]1 g* _0 W6 h

What is the cost of joining the Personal Growth Development & Homework Tutorial Class?* k: o& `3 K/ I7 I2 P) v: I
6 N9 N5 `+ t- i$ c4 GThe program is FREE and space is limited to 15 to 20 participants per session.

Volunteer’s Duties:* A2 H& s5 R4 @
 Assist youth with their school assignments o4 W0 J$ m7 ^
 Teach basic concept in areas related to English, Math, and other subjects& a: v5 l5 w* P& O: b* _
 Distribute promotional flyers to schools, churches, communities and social services agencies
5 o( V- j7 Q! B" q& ^. P$ G8 W Facilitate and/or coordinate/assist in workshop on personal growth development workshop series1 E+ H0 V1 x1 \1 B+ M/ b& y- B+ s7 N8 R
 Facilitate or assist in ice-breakers and/or other activities

 Research activities related to the sessions’ topic 0 Z& |! [6 m8 @8 X7 G8 X9 H
 Enforce safety rules during program sessions and fieldtrips2 j* r# r9 e1 }& H" h' ^& h9 S8 X
 Assist in program planning
