Responsibilities and Tasks6 \- D" P8 h/ `
, k2 M2 r1 I4 S, n: u4 j- Connect piping systems to water mains, supply tanks, pumps, compressors and control equipment ) `/ h; G' S- f+ \- H5 n, O1 ]& S
- Read and interpret drawings, blueprints and specifications furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form to determine layout requirements2 e9 o" y/ `4 ?% q. E) c
- Cut openings for pipe in walls, floors and ceilings using hand or power tools or machines
, B! [0 K. q# E- Select type and size of pipe required
8 E& w5 S. G. A" T- Measure, cut, thread and bend pipe to required shape using hand and power tools o" S: X, E3 }. B
- Weld, braze, cement, solder and thread joints to join pipes and fabricate sections of piping system
0 p) q% K8 K2 S0 E8 ~$ H- Install supports, valves, piping and control systems
" B: p( r0 H | B+ s5 r+ G- Test system for leaks using testing equipment8 \6 d8 }7 z3 R6 e; O
- Clean and maintain pipe units and fittings and flush system
; A+ S i' F" z/ k' Q" I- Remove and replace worn components and reactivate system9 j8 X+ j9 c( N$ ^. l5 J
- Actively participate in the Iyinisiw safety program
* b- a2 w- S$ n) Q! D6 F3 g l2 }; V- Other tasks related to pipefitting as may be required during the course of business

6 N- _: q0 a/ o3 T8 T/ s- Completion of secondary school
- \# ^' Q* n! W' j8 `5 k- Completion of formal Apprenticeship Program of four- to five-years or a combination of over five years of work experience in the trade and some high school, college or industry courses in pipefitting system installation
5 H. m1 } C6 {0 K- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
. ~6 O3 w; w9 R5 f) U- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
. O* q' B! C5 k- i+ Y- Pipefitter trade certification is considered an asset
