-        Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts and tables or study sample parts to determine machining operation to be performed, and plan best sequence of operations" L- [+ K/ [6 t5 I8 c
-        Compute dimensions and tolerances and measure and lay out work pieces' m! i0 ?/ k+ C% ^% x" R) d
-        Set up, operate and maintain a variety of machine tools including computer numerically controlled (CNC) tools to perform precision, non-repetitive machining operations such as sawing, turning, milling, boring, planing, drilling, precision grinding and other operations

-        Fit and assemble machined metal parts and subassemblies using hand and power tools- e" x0 G/ R) H8 ~8 g) T
-        Verify dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments

-        Completion of secondary school or a minimum of eight years work experience% i& K) Q, H2 X7 S
-        Completion of a four-year apprenticeship or training program or a combination of over four years of work experience in the trade and some college or industry courses in machining ' _* X9 H& C, f3 x1 K, d+ J+ R  D1 x
-        Skills in programming, set up, operation and maintenance of machine tools2 u& j( ]5 ~4 A5 e  V8 q' `% _
-        Proficiency reading, interpreting and identifying errors on shop drawings! I& T% e* O  F4 }+ Y5 j
-        A strong understanding of computer assisted drafting and manufacturing principles
# k7 S, s' R! Q/ W! Y8 o-        Able to work with fine tolerances and use a wide variety of measuring equipment

-        Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
