1 O! r% G/ l. X
( i5 R9 J8 T+ {( V
        1. I couldn't care less.
* a+ h5 t1 c0 I) j( l; j: l, @! @  j: A  P! w- @5 A
I don''t care at all. 或 I don''t give a hoot. 例如: % `* c" m) H) [% u% T% o
4 w  Y5 M- A# r0 o
What do you think of the budget-cut?(你对预算削减有何看法?) 4 q5 |) {4 R! D0 d0 [/ N/ m* P

* m# ^  o+ V1 \$ p; r( e+ x  你回答: I couldn't care less.(我毫不在乎) 0 z: u6 z8 }9 M' ^8 s: W' U

4 S8 G# i4 f. {5 A# n7 D) W  How do you like Mr. Lee's political point of view?(你喜欢李先生的政见吗?)
/ C1 s* }/ P2 }/ {: y( ?5 Z( L, Q% X" p' {. |8 M$ t
  I couldn't care less.(我才不在乎呢!)
- |- t. X9 ^7 h: v2 ~* N5 m- S2 M) A+ v# l3 Q# {
0 P7 ^$ e4 c5 t! M, o1 i" v3 g& u* ]& G8 T; l/ d
  I couldn't care less about the promotion or pay raise.(我不在乎升级或加薪)
: l$ T5 F8 w8 P  D+ ~7 `& B% D- q- K" u# p
Yes, you do(care). 3 t( c2 w# s0 c  Q; j

- N+ {- _4 B9 f! {8 P" D$ b  至于 I couldn't care more. 就是“我很在乎”(I care a lot.)或 I care deeply. 同理: 7 \7 h# x$ h5 o+ v4 l
2 _7 W# E2 a5 O6 N! O: Q( ?
  I couldn't agree more.=I totally agree.(我完全同意)
. a1 W9 j; Y) O3 |% W* v* w
) s9 W1 _9 J* W- `& E+ Z* k' C. f  I couldn't please you more.=I did my best to please you.(我尽量使你高兴) & t. e4 A) O. J+ G! }" F

0 C% {2 y6 [' ]3 U  ?& ~2 y% E  I couldn't be more right.=I am totally right. 9 |  p2 _* ?$ k  M; K4 {
3 [: a+ ^- \4 P/ b# w0 F
, C5 d( Z- ^- l
  I couldn't be more wrong. 5 U- q4 q& L3 U9 z* G
' V9 p  b! K7 W8 S" t6 ]( M+ \" F
I could care less. = I care to some degree.(care 的程度可能减少)
  I4 x" z: V3 @) D. k0 }. L" N7 m* u! w. p, [. ~- Q! d
  I could care more.=I care some.(care的程度也许增加)(主词可用任何人称代名词:he, she, you, we, they 等。但只用 could,不用 can。)
: @! V8 a1 Y7 Y1 e: [6 x! u0 n
. ^2 S. |$ z9 S8 P  2. No bones about it.
5 z& _5 h7 r" X* K$ [$ k5 ^8 ?# F3 G' _0 R& D9 W
  意思是:真实的,诚恳的(truly, sincerely or exactly),也就是 to make no bones about it.(bone 要加 s, it 是指 something)例如:
& X# t  T# j& S! p! a6 h6 Y% A" O! S# J1 F& D. i7 F* j
  His wife is beautiful;no bones about it.(他的太太真是很漂亮) 7 A4 B" T6 v  L4 r: W  D1 \  @1 z
0 e0 K: M3 h0 B" \% R- {7 T7 M
  Mr. A made no bones about it when he talked about abortion issue.(当 A 先生谈到堕胎问题时,他是诚恳的。)
- D$ V) B; |2 L  E# _& c7 i, E
9 \7 l- H; e3 o" |; G  When I spoke on the topic,he said, "No bones about it."(也就是他同意我的看法)
0 h0 o0 O0 f& v& L% C' {( v' n2 @  v
  No bones about it;the weather is very chilly today.(今天是真的太冷了) % v0 Z& o/ z4 g% b7 N) @
4 P5 ]% s3 V; M0 o  F9 d
  3. take it on me!
1 Q! B6 S9 j* k0 t; m+ J+ u, n$ K  F7 J" y0 Z0 ~
  意思是:“这是我的,请用吧!”“这是免费的”(help yourself to it; it is free),这多半是指吃的东西或一些不贵重的东西。例如:   E6 X9 x+ v1 u) ^4 \. [3 l' s8 B; N8 R( H

, }3 C* B+ `5 j7 f5 f  Here are some candies from England; take one on me. (one = candy)
% a6 Q  l) F/ J) T
$ f- N6 v7 Q' V8 \; s  The restaurant owner said to me, "Take the dessert on me." (餐馆老板对我说:“尝尝我的甜点吧!”) $ ?' S7 m, x0 y3 w, {- L$ L
! F2 O# M2 ]4 x% [' z% L
  Please take these pencils on me.(取用一些我的铅笔吧!)
5 {# j- S* r( ?/ c' h
( ]; \/ d( \1 p+ U1 W/ h$ t& d: y  可见 take 后面的 it,是指 something,而 on 的后面通常不指别人,所以多半也只用在第一人称单数 me。
. u6 \, U# Q6 \
9 W2 d* j: U! J1 }, S; @, h' Q  (假如夫妇在一起,也可以说:Take it on us.)
$ u; {9 u. ]- B  N6 ~" f7 X+ ?
7 }% K$ a* v: E* X/ S  S: ~  4. I am from Missouri. 3 J* R+ R1 T7 }1 s- W$ j$ |
7 N( k+ v. m; ^
  这句话有时后面要加一句:“I need to be shown.”或“You have got to show me.”,意思是 Missouri 州的人很固执 (stubborn),不太信任别人,一定要人家证明一下(prove it to me),所以密苏里州也被称为“The Show Me State”。 , x2 k4 R7 }4 x- _6 w/ Y
) P, p9 j! b' R- f
; _+ H9 A% a) M8 s! L) z
* E) i) I: P$ C# t; A5 v  He is not easily convinced because he is from Missouri. (他是来自密苏里州,所以不容易说服他。) 2 E3 J* @" ^7 T/ C0 P' h. }4 O

' C9 }6 H$ s$ O2 v4 ~5 T& c  Don''t try to fool me; I am from Missouri.(You have got to show me.) (别愚弄我,我是来自密苏里州。)
( C8 j, d( I* F3 d0 D. c1 V6 S) m' T8 ~3 Q) R8 B, F* D
  We are all from Missouri; we need to be shown.
1 p& l( S& c6 q4 y& W) q5 J) X" n5 }0 e- G
  As Mr. Smith is a tough guy; he must be from Missouri. (Smith
