Composition is a personal thing, this is how I think about this photo:
% D- B5 c* r& yYou include 3 main subjects in the photo: Boat/Dock/Background, everybody knows that there has to be a dock somewhere and you do not necessarily needed to included in the shot, I believe that call "Imply". when you use a wide angle lens, make sure the subjects in the photo is balanced (Top vs Bottom, Left vs Right, Background vs Foreground) is quite important, in this case, if you'd like emphasize the relationship between the Boat/Dock, I would include more of the dock and crop off the left side bit, otherwise photo feels heavier on the right side and the dock is distracting too, crop it off make the photo stronger.
