& F! n: i# `& @2 FPosition Summary: Within the broad guidelines of Settlement Program funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, the Career and Employment Counselor will provide supportive counseling and guidance to immigrant clients on employment related issues; assess their needs, offer information, help clients to develop an action plan of seeking employment, make necessary referrals; develop and facilitate employment related workshops; as well as advocacy for services and resources on behalf of client. This position reports to ISP Program Manager

● Work collaboratively with community groups and agencies, businesses and other organizations involved in providing career resources and planning
! [2 F! }. z9 S2 s& o● Plan and facilitate Job Search Classes
: l5 _* X& I c5 x% n) C: i m. \● Provide assistance to clients with employment-related issues# Q: ^, m$ {, o/ n* V
● Plan and implement career and employment-related information sessions, workshops, and other activities; like job search sharing sessions and occupational specific groups

* q1 i ?3 ]7 D8 P* x○ Provide current labor market information to help clients make realistic occupational or employment decisions
- O- {6 g m/ K0 `; Q7 F& l○ Help clients identify educational requirements and develop training plans
+ l% i1 ?5 i" L: m+ l1 v( t7 R○ Help clients to deal with barriers to achieving their career plans
; K G4 M! z0 J! b○ Assist clients to implement effective employment search strategies, to prepare resumes, develop career portfolios, and to enhance interview skills
* q! j% }9 l8 {○ Refer clients to appropriate services to address other particular needs
5 k# B$ Q1 L# w5 {+ K3 z$ c○ Write up case notes on each consultation session+ R5 Z" d, O8 q$ ^2 D
● Outreach presentation to promote the employment services and programs! G$ O" o8 I" F
● Bridging clients to potential employers, which may lead to possible employment - _7 u6 U9 \, t% h( j0 U
● Continually establish new contacts with potential employers u* w+ {* I8 q
● Prepare monthly and annual statistical, narrative and annual evaluation reports 3 `- g- d' B: k0 b u, q
● Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Manager.; d$ c$ j% \+ O# z

• Diploma/Degree in Social Sciences, Social Work or other human services field or an equivalent combination of education and experience from an accredited institution
7 O# T" {7 Q5 i7 P7 P: k• Efficient and professional reporting and documentation skills, oral and written communication skills in English
' T! R& F, |2 J9 P* i7 o• Good oral and written English skills. Have a working proficiency of Mandarin and/or Cantonese will be considered an asset
5 h% Q* E0 W8 d) f8 K4 J• Proven experience/ability to work well with culturally diverse clients and staff
( v+ y" n: T% A1 ]- C* [• Proficient in facilitation, presentation and coordination skills

• AAISA accreditation, and/or Certificated Career Practitioner by CDAA is an asset
