The Payroll and Benefit Administrator is responsible for the timely and accurate administration and processing of the weekly payroll, benefits programs and all related activities for a multi-site, union environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:% O$ r& s6 R7 ~
/ B9 V% O0 y$ Z6 h: g· Responsible for the processing of the weekly payroll for salaried and hourly employees. Collects, verifies and processes payroll information (employee timesheets, salary actions, benefit changes) and determines pay and benefit entitlement for employees. Ensures compliance with company policies, Collective Agreement and legislative requirements. Once compiled, transmits payroll data and ensures employee records, files, spreadsheets etc. are updated and maintained. May prepare and issue manual paychecks.
1 [, ?$ i2 H' u: C; j· Enters timesheet information into computer for all office staff and the Asset Inspection field staff.
* g% P7 p! u% {( ?8 `( K· Responds to employee or manager concerns and inquiries and solves payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing data and processes changes if required. Requires policy/legislation interpretation and/or Collective Agreement interpretation.

· Administers benefit programs by coordinating and processing benefit enrollments, changes and terminations, managing disability claims and responding to employee inquiries in a timely and courteous manner. Interprets policies and procedures, determines eligibility, researches problems, provides information and maintains employee database. Maintains a positive working relationship with benefit providers. Communicates benefit or policy changes to employees.
/ d& m0 s8 U, X( ~' f/ @$ r· Account reconciliation and remittance for the Group Benefit plan, Alberta Health and Wellness, union dues, pension, WCB, etc.- G6 q) ^% B ~; k
· Processes payment of federal taxes, CCRA, payroll burdens and reconciles accounts.

· Enters new hire information into database, creates and maintains employee files for field staff and maintains accurate personal histories and records. ) @% d/ j# G* q/ e) m
· Maintains certification spreadsheet and files, involves scanning of certificates and documents.5 F- [# z2 x, x! X+ Y

: ^: W4 D. {/ K2 z, \, [3 E- G% x: U- f3-5 years of related payroll and benefits experience in a union environment. Must be knowledgeable of federal and provincial payroll regulations and related tax law and employment standards. Experience with an automated payroll processing system would be an asset. / c" v2 |- A" t {2 t/ F& n3 W% h% }: @
" d7 |3 S x" J% }% rCPA designation, payroll diploma or certificate, preferred. Additional education or certification may be substituted for experience. Intermediate knowledge in the use of payroll software applications, databases, spreadsheets, and/or word processing required.
