Drainage Services, Asset Management & Public Works
' q9 l9 ~* A4 |; w& C• Construction of sewer lines, catch basins, access and drop manholes, watermains, feedmains, hydrants, ditches, water appurtenances, concrete structures such as storm outlets.' T0 N. z- N: l5 S/ w
• Digging holes and trenches by hand, excavation activities on major open cut projects ensuring placement of shoring, timbers, and struts; cutting, grinding levelling, jointing and laying of pipe.
$ \/ t, Y3 L0 Y6 g• Repairing sewer services, main lines and pumping stations; cleaning sewer and drainage systems by low pressure flushing; assisting drainage servicemen in inspecting, rodding and televising sewer services; repairing manholes and catchbasins; assisting equipment operators in performing high pressure flushing and vaccuum cleaning activities.. k8 F) ^- _/ d) z# v
Parks, Asset Management & Public Works% ? q( Q# s! H, h9 P
• Maintenance of parks: mowing, herbiciding and sanitation of turf, shrub and flower bed maintenance, marking & maintaining sports fields, playground inspections and servicing. % P" \7 D# W4 ]5 y3 V
• Construction of parks: manual labour using hand tools such as shovels, rakes and stake pounders.- I1 f& u% X3 h% o$ i
• Park service and trail maintenance: including sanitation of picnic sites, amenity buildings, repair of signs, roadways, trail surfaces, irrigation & homeless camps.' T% L/ p# J N2 c
• Forestry operations including various arboriculture tasks- assist in the development and maintenance of the urban forest.

• Labourers may be provided with rate up opportunities where required.( g; v5 G* A/ {% w
Roadway Maintenance / Traffic Field Operations, Transportation
7 r( Q# l$ G1 K# y/ r5 M: [# u0 {• Asphalt/concrete repairs, cracksealing, and paving.1 B" R4 X5 Q9 ]5 n" i
• Performing structural concrete/steel duties on bridge maintenance (must be able to work heights).
* }5 y+ P; S" g* t' `• Pouring, spreading, tamping and leveling soil, sand, gravel and concrete.; q, o- J" u) Y0 ?' D" J$ F
• Working in traffic during street construction/maintenance projects.

Recreation Facilities Branch, Community Services
% b+ m& d5 k- M6 a$ N+ K% h• Golf course, driving range, and park maintenance including turf mowing, fertilizer and pesticide application.8 V; S7 ]$ c! H) h0 R
• Internments at cemetaries; concrete pouring of foundations and markers; monument restoration.: T" @; W) W! M7 K+ G/ h: C" r8 @
• Operating and performing minor maintenance with equipment such as: small hand tools, push lawn mowers, trimmers, edgers, small rototillers, and chain saws.# A" i |. U& I/ |/ C
• Set up and take down of furniture and equipment for events and bookings at Recreation Facilities.
; J4 _, _5 \3 w5 U: s) Q. k• Assists with on-going general facility maintenance and cleaning at Recreation Facilities.

Job Requirements:
1 q- t6 Q, \) B. B: D: {• Completion of the eighth school grade or equivalent. Must be indicated on application/resume.7 b, G7 {6 K" n
• Possession of a valid Motor Vehicle Operator's License. Must be indicated on application/resume.
$ `- P* k# q+ Z- G• Applicants may be tested, and where required to operate a City vehicle, must attain a City of Edmonton driving permit upon appointment.: L4 R" d$ q g8 e1 s& M8 @
• Physically capable of performing heavy labour work for extended periods of time under various weather and traffic conditions.+ X, a- r i$ i4 A% V
• Manual dexterity to operate simple hand and/or power tools and small equipment.
7 h% S4 y. u- H• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.- b" W% P' V n
• Team player & self-motivated, possibility of working alone on scheduled shift.
6 W+ k! r- K) m6 T5 rHOURS OF WORK: Up to 40 hours per week. Hours of work will vary with each position. These positions may be subject to shift work, providing coverage 7 days per week. Please indicate if you’re interested in shift work.
) O- R: t H! B4 V2 p8 d5 x7 cSALARY RANGE: 10M, Salary Grade: 013, starting at $15.11 (Hourly). Rates are based on employee status and length of service. The rates quoted are in accordance with an agreement between the Union and the City.
