) L$ W' ~6 _% C! T: j; dsociety led by a youth board of directors to enhance/encourage youth
0 x+ k4 R* ^% ?volunteerism in Alberta. By working with nonprofit organizations/youth
5 K- m0 b( F/ U& P* yages 14-24, we foster collaboration between motivated youth,
organizations and citizens wanting to build healthier societies and more
sustainable communities.

+ C1 G: j7 Q4 B$ X3 pPosition Abstract: The Executive Director provides day-to-day management
2 I" S- P; i+ T$ W8 \; a8 dand leadership of Alberta's YouthVOLUNTEER! (AYV!). The ED is a
non-voting member and champions youth volunteerism in Alberta.  The ED
" e  d) A3 D: J  q8 O* g& z& Tworks within the structures set by the organization's bylaws and
policies to ensure ethical and professional management of organization's
affairs at all times.

. X) C3 @( Y! N& d9 N, ]: vPrimary Responsibilities: Helps Board of Directors in developing a
vision & strategic plan; Establish strong relationships & collaborative
( P' k) [7 v; r" T0 ?- d4 ~arrangements with community groups, sponsors, governments, schools,
& n/ m- ^+ Z  @+ Bmedia/other stakeholders to achieve the goals of AYV!; Prepare reports
for the Board; Assist the Board in drafting policies/prepare procedures
to implement the organizational policies.

PLUS: Ensure good record keeping; Ensure funders' grants are stewarded
: c; u" V) z3 r4 g0 L. N9 Eas per their requirements; Plan, implement and evaluate programs and
services; Recruit, interview, select & coach staff/volunteers that have
the right abilities to help further the organization's mission.

/ ~# g& l3 m: M0 J$ _" G1 `In addition: Prepare budget; Search & secure adequate; oversees the
development of fundraising plans/writing funding proposals; Administer
* T6 W, ^+ Z% t& n/ X2 Pthe funds of the organization & monitor the monthly cash flow; Ensure
that bookkeeping/accounting practices are followed; Process accounts
payable; Develop communication/marketing tools to increase awareness of
the organization & its programs; Work with website contractor/developer.

+ ?4 U' [" Q6 [) [9 t: X- yKey Qualifications: Experience working with a number of different groups
) X! _1 z3 d3 Uincluding a Board of Directors, non-profit organizations, government
partners sponsors, employees, volunteers, and youth; Understanding of
/ k" e& u, N+ ~0 Q0 yorganizational financial management and CRA requirements; Ability to
# Q- }- i- R6 h( C+ U' y5 L+ Q3 n2 Fwork in a self-directed work environment; Experience planning and
( F4 e7 F5 v+ a# j" `/ E+ r' fmanaging projects and budgets.

# q" o  u6 P7 t6 I" s! R6 }- APLUS: Creative approach to marketing; Understanding of board governance
